RISK ANALYST
Top Grade is seeking an experienced, passionate, hands-on insurance claims professional to develop and administer the Corporate Risk Management program. Specifically, we are looking for a professional with the skills, capacity, knowledge and passion to help us drive Process Excellence across the company and also manage critical risk processes. The Risk Analyst is charged with actively managing risk exposures to the business through contract review, first and third party accident/incident investigation, litigation management, a broad range of commercial insurance programs, consultation to all levels of field personnel and management with regards to risk policies initiatives. This visible role will report to the CFO in matrix with the Manager of Safety.
RESPONSIBILITIES
* Manage the company's automobile, property and general liability risk exposures via contract reviews, document retention, recordkeeping, accident/incident investigation, claim reporting, interaction with claimants, and litigation management
* Report to the company's Chief Financial Officer, maintain electronic accident/incident database and filing system; develop a working knowledge of the company's insurance policies, maintain records of WRAP (CCIP and OCIP) projects and insurance policies, analyze accident/incident trends, work with the company's insurance broker to report and conclude insurance claims, work with legal counsel in the management of litigation against the company, respond to contractual defense/indemnity tenders from owners and general contractors, prepare contractual defense/indemnity tenders to subcontractors and their insurers, prepare monthly activity and incident reports, work with the Project Managers to conclude claims not reported to insurers, become familiar with post-accident drug testing laws and assist management with the implementation of post-accident drug testing.
* Ensure that all subcontractors have obtained all required insurance policies prior to their starting work on Top Grade Construction jobs; review subcontractors' insurance certificates to ensure coverage validity, policy expirations, and the subcontractors' compliance with company requirements, work with Project Managers to obtain approval for targeted subcontractors, maintain insurance certificate database integrity, communicate with subcontractors' insurance brokers regarding insurance requirement compliance, prepare and distribute to the field a weekly subcontractor approval report, order insurance certificates to comply with owner/general contractor insurance requirements.
* Direct the company's Drug Testing Policy; set up new hire, post-accident, and DOT mandatory drug testing, work with Human Resources and Safety to take action on positive drug tests, order drug testing kits and ensure that the company clinic has an adequate supply, code and request payment of all testing services.
* Help manage administration of the company's Safety program; order, maintain, and distribute safety supplies, administer Safety Awards program, work with the company's Safety Manager to help set up safety meetings and develop safety topics, maintain safety and claims statistics, develop effective relationships with third party administrators and operations management regarding implementation and final resolution of claims; supporting the partnership with Operations and Safety; education, training, and providing support to Operations.
* Installation of effective risk process management across the business
* Identify metrics for measuring process effectiveness
* Develop and manage processes to help support risk management activities including contract risk management as well as insurance risk management
QUALIFICATIONS
* 7+ years work experience in a risk management environment, with knowlede of insurance claims handling, policy language analysis, litigation management and safety programs
* Demonstrated ability to review a wide variety of contract documents, mark up changes to terms and conditions and negotiate with opposing legal representatives
* Must possess excellent written communication skills to be utilized in detailed reporting to senior management and legal correspondence
* Computer literacy with skills in spreadsheet and word processing applications (MS Word, Excel, and Outlook)
* Bachelor's degree in business or related major, or equivalent combination of education and experience, required
* Construction industry background preferred
